Thomas Diary - A walk through my life

9th March 2013, Saturday, 7:30 pm

It was the Day 3 of Pastor Tinu George’s Healing Campaign at the Malayalam fellowship, Emmanuel Assemblies of God Church, Upper East Coast Road. The first two days of the meeting were awesome. People received healing and accepted Jesus as their Savior. A family that didn’t have Bible were given the Bible.

On the day 3, the service started with beautiful praise and worship by Anil and Sham from the El-Shaddai Ministries, Kottarakara. The Anointing was awesome.

After Praise and Worship, Tinu George shared the sermon on Discerning the evil spirits, quoting from the Book of Mark.

Mark 4:35

35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

When Jesus told the disciples to cross over the other side, they didn’t know the destiny. They simply followed Jesus. Just for one man, Jesus traveled a long distance. He went to the other side to meet one man.

Mark 4:36-39

36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. The devils tried to stop Jesus from approaching the land but Jesus rebuked those evil spirits that caused the storm.

Mark 5:1-5

5 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. The world saw failure and misery in the man possessed with evil spirits, but Jesus saw him as an evangelist! God saw him as a mighty man !

Mark 5:6-13

But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. 10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. 11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. 12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. 13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

The word legion in Greek means 6000. There were about 6000 evil spirits in a single man. The same evil spirits that tried to drown Jesus and his disciples were drowned in the sea.

He mentioned 4 ways to discern if a person is possessed with the evil spirits:

  1. If a man is led by devil, he lives in a cemetery. Mark 5:3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
The devil puts a man’s life to his end point, he sifts his life from the starting point to the End.
  2. If a man is led by evil spirits, he destroys his own body parts. Mark 5:5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.  In today’s context, it can be through the use of drugs, alcohol, smoking, etc.
  3. The person led by evil spirits enjoys immodesty. Mark 5:15 15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
  4. If the devil is controlling a person, then that person is a disturbance to his family, his society, and to everyone. Mark 5:4 4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

If God has a plan for you, you cannot sink said Pastor Tinu George.

Mark 5:15-17 15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine. 17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

Most people in the world are like the men in the above verse who asked Jesus to depart from the land when they saw the person being delivered from the clutches of the devil.

In today’s scenario, if somebody accepts Jesus as their Savior and gets baptized, the family members are more concerned about their denomination or culture or tradition rather than the fact that the person is healed or delivered, said Pastor Tinu George.

Mark 5:18-20 18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. 19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. 20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

The man wanted to follow Jesus but Jesus appointed him to share the good news with the people around him. He was an evangelist at Decapolis and through that one man, people came to know Jesus.

After the sermon, Tinu George led the people into worship. The Anointing was awesome.

He rebuked the evil spirits and prayed for healing and deliverance. It was around 10:15 pm, the service ended.

Praise God for a wonderful time 🙂
