Today, I attended the service at the New Creation Church, at 8:30 am led by Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke. I was awed by the majestic building, next to the Buona Vista MRT with the shopping malls and state of the art auditorium. It was my first visit to the New Creation Church after they shifted from Suntec city, Rock Auditorium.
Titus had booked seats online for the 8:30 am service.
The service started with beautiful Praise and Worship. After Praise and Worship, we partook Holy Communion which is served every week. While partaking the Holy Communion, we professed the healing of the body and forgiveness of sin.
After the Holy Communion, the pastor welcomed Reinhard Bonnke on stage to share the Word of God. The audience gave him a rousing welcome as he took the podium. Although he is in his early 70’s, he looks so youthful and dynamic, full of zeal and energy with passion to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to win souls and plunder hell.
He started the sermon by mentioning Jesus came to heal the sick and save that was lost. The Love of God is all comprehensive and it does not discriminate any one. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
He shared his personal experience of evangelizing in Africa. During the initial days, people were not interested to hear his message. He preached his heart and soul, but nobody was saved. It was fun to hear his testimony.
He then shared the story of how his grandfather was saved. His grandfather had a disease and was suffering from severe pain. One fine day, an American missionary lost his way and stumbled on Bonnke’s family. He preached the Gospel to them and they accepted Jesus as their Savior. And the missionary under the power of Holy Spirit, commanded the sickness to leave in the name of Jesus. At that very moment, his grandfather was healed and when the missionary laid hands on them, they spoke in tongues!
After the testimony, he shared his experience, preaching in a parliament about the Power of Blood of Jesus. After the sermon, more than 60 percent of the members accepted Jesus as their Savior.
1 Peter 1:18-20
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
In fact, Gold and silver are incorruptible and the blood is corruptible. But in the above verse, Peter turns the table upside down, he mentions Blood as incorruptible and Gold and Silver as corruptible! The reason being, we cannot receive Salvation by Gold and Silver but only through the precious Blood of Jesus. We are washed with His precious Blood. That’s the reason, Gold and Silver are termed as corruptible and the Blood of Jesus as Incorruptible. There is power in the Blood of Jesus to wash every man’s sin past, present and future.
Then Bonnke asked the audience who was the Father of Jesus? If Joseph was the Father of Jesus, then His blood would have been sinful. It would have been like a common man. In the book of Luke chapter 1, we read And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Jesus had no earthly Father. He was conceived in the womb of Mary by the Holy Spirit.
He then shared the conversation he had with an atheist over the Blood of Jesus. According to the atheist, if there is power in the blood of Jesus, why is it that people are sick and miserable ? Bonnke replied him that even though there are plenty of soap in this world, people are still dirty ! I am not automatically cleansed if I stand next to soap. You have to stretch out your hand, get hold of soap and apply over your body. So it’s same, we must apply the blood of Jesus.
Bonnke then explained How does the Blood of Jesus works? The Old Testament uses the word Atonement which means covering. The blood of animals were shed for the atonement but they couldn’t take the sin until Jesus came to take away the sin of this world ! We become a new creation through the blood of Jesus. He removes all those terrible stains, brokenness, and chains in the brain.
The Gospel is not reformation, or decoration or renovation but it’s the Salvation and Jubilation said Reinhard Bonnke. Jesus came to set the captives free.
Quoting the Book of Leviticus 8:22-24,
22 And he brought the other ram, the ram of consecration: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram. 23 And he slew it; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put it upon the tip of Aaron’s right ear, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot. 24 And he brought Aaron’s sons, and Moses put of the blood upon the tip of their right ear, and upon the thumbs of their right hands, and upon the great toes of their right feet: and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about.
Moses applied the blood on the ear, thumb and foot, which represents head, hand and feet. He marked them all with the blood. Bonnke mentioned that the Blood of Jesus is applied to the interior and then to the exterior. The Old Testament foreshadows the New Testament. In the Old testament, it was done symbolically, but in the New Testament, it was done in Reality. All the animal sacrifices were pointing towards Jesus. When you’re marked with the blood of Jesus, no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Since you are God’s children, God will look after you. He washes you, renews you, fills you with His Holy Spirit. You become the righteousness of God. God says, fear not for I have redeemed you, you’re mine.
Finally, he invited people who wanted to accept Jesus as their Savior to say the Sinner’s prayer. Later, he prayed for the sick and rebuked the spirit of sickness and disease. The service ended with beautiful praise. Praise God for a wonderful time 🙂
