Thomas Diary - A walk through my life

24th January 2013, Thursday

Yesterday i.e. on 24th Jan, Geenu and I attended the cell group meeting at Brother Teck Lee’s house, Bishan, at 8 pm. The meeting started with beautiful praise and worship led by Jasmina and Esther. The anointing was awesome during the praise and worship.

After Praise and Worship, it was a testimony time. People shared their blessings and favor they received from God during the week.

After the testimonies, Bro Teck Lee, shared the Word of God by quoting Genesis 32:9-12

Then Jacob said, “O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the Lord who said to me, ‘Return to your country and to your family, and I will deal well with you’: 10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which You have shown Your servant; for I crossed over this Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two companies. 11 Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and attack me and the mother with the children. 12 For You said, ‘I will surely treat you well, and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.’”

Although Jacob was deceiver and cunning in claiming his birthright from his elder brother – Esau, he knew how to claim the promises of God for his life.

Genesis 32:24

24 Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.

 Genesis 32:30

30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel:[a] “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

Genesis 32:26

26 And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”

Jacob was determined to receive blessing from God.

It’s important to know who you are in God. In the Presence of God, we have the revelation of who we are – Genesis 32:27

“We need the revelation to know who we are in God and it’s in this revelation God will bless us.” stressed Bro Teck Lee.

Bro Teck Lee mentioned how to seek God.

  1. Through Holiness – Holiness is the confirmance to the character of God.

Heb 12:1414 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:
    1 Peter 1:14-16
14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”[a]

Psalms 66:18 – If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear.
    Pslams 78:17 –

  2. Through Humility – means putting God first. James 4:10 –10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
Isaiah 57:15 – For thus says the High and Lofty One
Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

    Luke 18:9-14

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

  3. Through Hunger – A God chaser seeks the Presence of God in hunger. Jeremiah 29:13 – 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Brother Teck Lee mentioned there is difference between knowledge and Revelation. Revelation is of now, knowledge is of past. We must draw near to God and fast from the things that keep you away from spending time with God.

Finally, the meeting ended with beautiful worship. I could experience the beautiful Presence of God. Later we had excellent food and fellowship and then left home at 10:15 pm.

Praise God for an awesome time 🙂

17th January 2013, Thursday

Today Geenu and I, attended our weekly cell group meeting at Brother Teck Lee’s house. After having early dinner from home, we took bus 410G from Sin Ming avenue at 7:55 pm and reached the Nth Mall, Bishan at 8 pm. We were just in time for Praise and Worship.

After beautiful praise and worship, Bro Teck Lee shared the message about “Partakers of Divine Nature”. He mentioned that as believers we have two natures within us – Sin nature and Divine nature. We inherit the divine nature when we are born again by the Holy Spirit. The sin nature loves the things of this world. We constantly face battle between these natures within us.

In 2 Peter 2: 1-22, we read

Destructive Doctrines

2 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does[a] not slumber.

Doom of False Teachers

For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, 11 whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.

Depravity of False Teachers

12 But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, 13 and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, 14 having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. 15 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man’s voice restrained the madness of the prophet.

17 These are wells without water, clouds[b] carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.[c]

Deceptions of False Teachers

18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped[d] from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,”[e] and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”

From the passage, we can conclude that God punishes sinners who do not repent or those who fall back to sin after they come to know the truth. When Jesus mentioned during the last supper to his disciples that one of them is devil, nobody knew it was Judas. Judas hid his true nature so well that the disciples didn’t knew it was Judas who would betray.

Bro Teck Lee mentioned there are 2 types of nature found in human beings. One is a pig nature that loves to roll in the mud which is symbolic of sin. It enjoys being in the mud. Second is the lamb nature. If the lamb falls into the mud, it tries its best to come out and when it fails, it cries out to its shepherd.

The lamb nature is similar to a believer’s life. When he falls to sin, he pleads to Jesus to help him come out of sin. The pig nature represents the people of this world who enjoy sin.

In Galatians 5:19-21, we read about the people that cannot inherit the kingdom of God:

New King James Version (NKJV)

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[a] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders,[b] drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God

To walk in divine nature, we need three things:

  1. Call out to God daily in Prayer
  2. Confess the Promises of God daily. In 2 Peter 1:4, we read

by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. In Psalms 119:9,11 we read, How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word.
    10 With my whole heart I have sought You;
Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You. In 1 Peter 1:23, we read 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, Thus we must cleanse our life daily with the Word of God.

  3. Commit your heart to God daily. In Ephesians 4:24, we read

24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Similarly, we must pursue holiness daily. It’s a process which cannot be attained overnight. In Colossians 3;10, we read 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

Finally, the meeting ended with beautiful worship. It was also birthday celebration of 3 members whose birthdays were in January. Later all of us headed towards table for delicious food.  After food and fellowship, we headed back home.

Praise God for an awesome time 🙂

8-November-2012, Thursday

Last thursday, I attended our weekly cell group meeting at Brother Teck Lee’s house in Bishan. It’s a beautiful gathering of people from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, and ourselves from India. The meeting started with beautiful praise and worship.  After worship, brother Teck Lee preached the message on “Humility, Confidence and Purpose” in a believer’s life.

He mentioned that a mark of true Christian is humility. 1 Peter 5:5 says ”

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”[a]

We must be clothed with humility. The basic expression of humility is serving others. We must be content in humility. 1 Peter 5:6 says ” 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. We must be careless in humility. 1 Peter 5:7 says Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

In the midst of trials, we must not be anxious.  Being humble doesn’t mean you are weak. We must be confident at the same time. We must believe in God and speak boldly to our mountains using God’s Word.

After preaching humility, brother Teck Lee shared about our Position in Christ. John 13:3 says Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,

Jesus knew where He came from and His Purpose on earth. Similarly, we must know where we come from and our purpose.  The Bible says, we are children of God through our faith in Jesus Christ. We must know the purpose for which we live. How do we gain confidence? Psalm 91 says, By dwelling in the secret place of most High. Position is given by believing in His name. John 1:12 – 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

What’s our Power in Christ. John 14:12-14 says 12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask[a] anything in My name, I will do it. Asking in Jesus’ name is our power in Christ.

Finally, Brother Teck Lee shared message on our purpose in Christ. Matthew 28:16-20 says ” 16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore[a] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.[b]

After sermon, the meeting ended with beautiful worship. The anointing was powerful. Later, we had food and then bade good bye.

24-August-2012, Friday

Yesterday, I attended Cell group meeting at brother Teck Lee’s house. After beautiful praise and worship, brother Teck Lee shared the secret of success of City Harvest Church which Pastor Kong shared with the audience during the Leader’s meeting.

The success of City Harvest Church is in its Spiritual atmosphere. There is power in the spiritual atmosphere.

Mark 6:5-6  He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.

Luke 5:16-17 17 One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the lawwere sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.

In the Bible, there are frequent references to the phrase “in the Spirit” which means to be in a powerful, tangible spiritual atmosphere.

There are 5 blessings  spiritual atmosphere brings:

  • Spirtual atmosphere sustains our life in Christ
  • Spiritual atmosphere presses us closer to God
  • Spiritual atmosphere protects us from demonic attacks
  • Spiritual atmosphere imparts revelations of God. Rev 1:10.
  • Spiritual atmosphere reflects beauty of Christ

Following are the different types of Spiritual atmosphere, Holy Spirit imparts (Acts 4:23-35)

  • Spirit of Praise. Psalms 61:3
  • Spirit of Prophecy. Revelations 19:10
  • Spirit of Holiness. Romans 1:4
  • Spirit of Prayer (supplication). Zechariah 12:10
  • Spirit of Faith 2 Corinthians 4:13
  • Spirit of Truth. John 14:15-17

3 ways to build Spiritual Atmosphere

  • There should be a yearning in our hearts
  • There should be love and unity. Place of agreement is place of power.
  • We should pray in tongues. Jude 1:20.

Finally, after the message and closing song, we had delicious food. Later, went back home and had dinner. Praise God for an awesome day.

16-Aug-2012, Thursday

On 16th Aug, 2012, Geenu and I, attended cell group meeting at brother TeckLee’s house. The meeting started with beautiful praise and worship. Later brother Teck Lee shared message on “5 things to taste or experience in Spiritual Life”

  1. Desire to taste Lord Jesus Christ. Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good, Blessed is the man that trusts in Him.
  2. Desire to taste the Word of God. Psalms 119:103 – How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth. Hebrews 6:5 – and have tasted the good Word of God and the powers of age to come.
  3. Desire to taste Holy Spirit. Hebrews 6:4 – For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit….
  4. Desire to taste the Power. Hebrews 6:5
  5. Desire to taste the Grace of God 1Peter 2:3  – If indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious
