Authority in Christ by Pastor Kong Hee

14th Oct 2012, Sunday

Today Geenu and I, attended City Harvest Church at Singapore Expo Hall 1. We left home at 8:45 am, took 410 W bus from Bishan and then took circle line from Marymount MRT, reached Expo at 9:45 am and walked another 10 mins to reach Expo Hall 1. The service started with beautiful praise and worship. Later Pastor Kong gave sermon on Our Authority in Christ. He started with Ephesians 1:16-23 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding[a] being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

Ephesians 2: 1-6 2 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Ephesians 1:17-19 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding[a] being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

Here Paul prays that the eyes of our understanding be opened to see spiritual mysteries. In the above verse we read that Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father. Ephesians 2:6, “and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus

We conclude that we are also raised together with Christ. When Jesus sat down on the throne, we are also seated with Jesus. It’s only through the realm of the Spirit, we can be in heavenly places. There is authority in the name of Jesus and in the blood of Jesus. Satan recognizes this authority.  Authority is the delegated power.

Ephesians 6:10 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Ephesians 1:2121 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

We are seated far above Satanic power in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Matthew 28:18-19 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore[a] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Mark 16:15-18 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[a] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

James 4:7  Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Does Satan recognizes the authority you have? Of course, he recognizes.

1 Peter 5:8-9 Be sober, be vigilant; because[a] your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

Genesis 1:28 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Here we read the first instruction ever given to man to have dominion.  Dominion means right to command. We must take authority over our situation. Dominion is released through our mouth. Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Whatever you believe about God and His Word, we must speak. We must believe and speak out promises of God, speak to the mountain using the creative power.  Luke 10:19 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Power means ability.  We must pray, praise, prophecy and profess our Faith. Philippians 2:9-11 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

To move in authority, we must walk in humility like our Lord Jesus, who though was a King and Son of God, took the form of a man to save human beings from sin and to destroy the works of devil.

After sermon, Pastor Kong led the people in to prayer for healing, financial blessings and deliverance. There was mighty anointing as people prayed together holding each others hands. It was a beautiful time as he led people into intimacy with God.

After service, we had lunch from Changi Point. Geenu was tired, so we couldn’t attend Malayalam fellowship. We took taxi and on the way, there was heavy downpour. After 20 minutes ride, we reached home. Praise God for an awesome Sunday. Alleluia.

Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains correction,
But he who regards a rebuke will be honored.
